The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department and others are advocating for removing the Swanton Dam on the Missisquoi River in Swanton Village. This dam has contributed to the collapse of what had been a tremendous fisheries existing on the lower Missisquoi River. The dam prevents walleye, lake sturgeon, muskellunge and many other fish species from reaching habitat they need to spawn and sustain their populations.
