I traveled through the White River valley this weekend. This fall there was so much Irene coverage that the shock wore off. Driving along the White and Tweed Rivers this weekend I was reminded of what happened. It is crazy now to see the massive reconstruction projects. Banks have been rip rapped for miles and miles. More rock has been moved than I could ever imagine and there is heavy machinery at every pull off. The woods and corn fields are still covered deep in silt. Huge amounts of trees. root balls and all, are washed against the banks. 7 months later and this disaster is still very obvious. mk
